People we work with
Profile on Peter
Peter, who came to one of our services in the North West just over a year ago, had always said that he wanted to live in supported living by the time he was forty.
Peter has worked extremely hard to achieve his goal, by accepting support to build his skills and independence. He recently enrolled in communication and independent living skills courses at a local college.
Peter is very sociable and has made new friends at college. With support from staff he has started going to the local disco and going out for meals, which will enable him to continue to build friendships when he moves.
Working with our therapists, Peter has followed structured programmes to develop skills such as cooking, safety in the community and the home and budgeting.
Peter has overcome many difficulties during his stay with us and welcomes fresh challenges in his quest to move on. Although he is not afraid to say that these have proved daunting and difficult at times, he has met all challenges head on and accepts they are a means to an end.
Peter and the staff have recently researched local housing, with a view to visiting those he is interested in soon. With all his effort and determination, Peter is on track to achieve his goal by the time he turns forty at the end of August this year.
