People we work with
Profile on Carol
Carol came to live at one of our services over a year ago under the misguided impression she would be here for life – she has now realised how wrong she was! She has strived to improve her daily living and independence skills and is aware of how quickly she can move into her own flat.
Carol is a very sociable lady who makes people happy with her warm sense of humour and is a pleasure to be around. She has joined local community groups, including knitting, bingo and chess, to improve her social skills.
Carol has always been interested in poetry. She is an avid writer and was delighted when she had one of her poems published. This has inspired her to enroll on a Creative Writing course at the local college, which is proving a great success.
Carol has resumed her previous interests - crochet and arts and crafts. Recently she sent homemade Christmas cards to her friends and family. Carol constantly challenges herself against staff to improve her memory skills and, due to her competitive nature, often beats staff hands down!
Carol has accepted the support programme and has worked consistently with our therapists to the point where her dream to move into her own flat is now a genuine reality. She is now looking to enrol in a college course to improve her independent living skills and fulfill her dream.
